Teaching your kids to do laundry feels like a milestone every parent longs for. To reap the benefits of extra hands doing the housework, you must put a little time into teaching them the process first. With these steps and tips below, you’ll have your family team flying through their laundry piles in no time!
Sort It Out The first and a very vital step is learning how to sort the dirty laundry. Walk them through the guidelines of how and why you separate your laundry. Extra tip: Make it fun by creating a timed race, to see who can do it the fastest! Hot or Cold? Normal or Heavy Duty? Your temperature and wash settings for a cycle can make or break the efficiency of your wash. Explain the different selections and when to use them so that your kids become as efficient as possible at the laundry chore. Extra tip: Turn this into a quiz as you go through your laundry hampers. Let the winner have the honor of pushing the start button! The Home Stretch The most dreaded portion of the whole process… folding. Many hands will make for light work in this labor-intensive step! Walk your kids through each type of garment and guide them on hanging, folding and putting away. Extra tip: Folding Olympics will surely motivate your kiddos! Give everyone a basket of similar items and have them race to fold them (or hang them!) correctly. After reading this post, grab your supplies, fill your sink with some soapy water and let's get cleaning! Cleaning Your Glass or Gas Cooktop Remove any knobs and grates from your cooktop and place them in the warm, soapy water. While those soak, add two cups of water, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup dish soap to a spray bottle and shake to combine. Spray your cooktop, range hood and backsplash with solution. Let that stand 15-20 minutes and then spray again and wipe clean. Rinse any remaining residue and wipe dry with a clean towel. Head back to the sink and scrub your knobs and grates, rinse with cool water and pop back into place once everything is dry. Cleaning Your Dishwasher Remove the racks from your dishwasher and spray around sides, paying special attention to the wheels and groves, with your baking soda solution. Rinse and wipe clean. Check your filter for any debris and rinse clean under warm water. Pour a cup of white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher along with 1/4 cup of baking soda, then run it using a hot cycle. Replace the racks, and you’re ready to go! Cleaning your Refrigerator Now is the time to discard any old, expired foods and condiments! Remove all remaining items, including your drawers and shelves. Spray the interior of your fridge with your solution and let sit for 10 minutes. In the meantime, clean and scrub your drawers and shelves and allow to dry completely. Return to your fridge and wipe it down; respray interior if needed. Wipe everything dry with a clean towel. Replace the drawers and shelving and reorganize your food items and your fridge will be ready for you next time you need it. Cleaning Your Microwave Remove the glass plate from your microwave and clean with warm, soapy water. Place a microwave-safe glass of half-water and half-vinegar and run until the liquid begins to boil. Let the solution sit in the microwave for a few minutes for the steam to do its work! After a few minutes, remove the solution and wipe down all sides. If there is any stubborn gunk left, spray with the baking soda solution and wipe clean. Replace your glass plate and reward yourself with a bag of popcorn! Name: Lyanna

Clean clothes are a necessity for a busy family these days, and to ensure that goal is met every time it is just as important to have a clean washing machine. Crosley Home Products has put together a step-by-step guide to taking proper care of your top load machine. 1.Clean the Tub First, make sure the tub is empty from your last cycle. Throw in a washing machine cleaning tablet (we prefer Affresh!) Close the door and select the normal washing cycle. For extra cleaning, run an additional rinse and spin cycle to ensure all excess cleaning detergent has been removed. Leave the door open to completely dry – this will help with odors in the future! 2.Clean out your Dispensers Pull out all drawers and compartments that are removable. Wipe down with a damp cloth and towel dry. In some cases, an all-purpose cleaner may be necessary. 3.Clean the Lid Use a damp cloth to wipe down the door, lid and around the seals. Make sure to get the interior of the door also! 4.Wipe down the Outside Use a damp cloth and mild soap cleaners to wipe down any debris, lint or detergent spills from the exterior of your machine. Walk through these steps to clean your machine about every 30-40 wash cycles and your machine will stay clean and pristine, making your laundry process more efficient and effective. Crosley Home Products wants to help keep your appliances running to the best of their ability, so see below for some easy step-by-step instructions on how to clean your dishwasher. 1.Empty the dishwasher – After running a cycle, remove everything from dishwasher. Remove racks that can be taken out. 2.Check the Spinning Arm – Using a small, pointed tool (think: toothpick!) remove any debris or buildup on the holes of the spinning arm(s). This is where the water sprays out during a cycle, so it’s very important that they are clear! 3.Wash all of the pieces – wash everything that was removed with warm, soapy water. 4.Clean your filter – Take a soft bristled toothbrush and wash the filter screen with warm, soapy water. 5.Wipe it down – Soak a cloth in warm water and vinegar before you wipe down the bottom of the door and the door seal. For tight areas, bring out that toothbrush again! 6.Clean the inside walls – Wipe down the interior walls of your dishwasher with a damp sponge or cloth. 7.Don’t forget the Utensil Rack – scrub your utensil rack with warm, soapy water to ensure any debris has been removed. 8.Run Empty Cycle – Return all pieces and racks that have been removed. Next, to remove the hard waster spots, add two cups of vinegar to the bottom of your dishwasher and run on a low power cycle. For an extra boost of cleaning, pause the cycle halfway through and let the vinegar solution sit in the bottom for 20 minutes, then continue the cycle. 9.Clean the Exterior – Using a stainless-steel spray, wipe down the exterior door of your dishwasher. For a streak-free finish, spray the cleaner directly on a cloth rather than the appliance. photo credit: Getty Images

Crosley dishwashers are made to make your life in the kitchen easier. On top of the key features that Crosley builds into the machines, there are a few tips you can use to get the most out of your dishwashing experience. 1. Face your dishes toward the center The spray arm shoots water from the middle out. Places your dishes, baking sheets and pans facing the center to maximize the spray power. 2. Keep it Clean You can’t expect a dirty appliance to get things fully clean. Your Crosley dishwasher needs a deep clean every now and then, too! Using a dishwasher cleaner and a little elbow grease will help your appliance go a long way. 3. Don’t Overload! Dishwashers that are too full are a problem. With too many items in the machine, the water spray may be blocked causing you more work in the long run. Make sure that everything has space and there is no clanking within your racks. 4. Unload the bottom first When unloading your dishwasher, it is helpful to start on the bottom rack. This ensures any water that may have been collected in bowls or cups up top won’t spill over to your bottom dishes and get them dirty all over again. 5. Run your sink first Before starting a dishwasher cycle, turn your sink faucet on until it runs hot water. This will make sure that your dishwasher’s first cycle of water will be hot, cleaning and sanitizing from the get-go. From top load to front load, to high-efficiency detergent, to color-safe bleach; doing laundry is ever changing. One thing that remains true is that you can waste plenty of dollars if you aren’t paying attention to how you’re actually completing your laundry process. Below are five quick tips to help you pinch your pennies in the laundry room. 1. Use the correct amount of detergent If you’re looking for ways to save money in your laundry routine, read the labels for your laundry detergent and use the minimum amount recommended. Using more than required will lead to soap residue on your clothing and no one wants that! Plus, using smaller amounts of detergent will help make your bottle last longer. 2. Shake, shake, shake! When transferring your laundry from washer to dryer, it is very helpful to shake out your items – especially sheets and towels. Laundry will take longer to dry when all balled up. For bonus savings, check your items mid-cycle and see if they need to be shaken again! 3 .Run Full Loads Resist the urge to run smaller loads throughout the week, as you will use more water and energy in the long run. Just be careful not to overload your machines, as this will require more laundering also, and cause damage to your machines. 4. Run Machines During Non-Peak Hours With just a little bit of research, you can learn your peak and non-peak hours from your utility provider. Planning to complete your laundry routine during hours that cost less, will make pinching pennies a breeze. 5. Wash with Cold Water Running your washing machine on warm water instead of hot will cut your energy usage in half! Using cold water will provide you with even more savings. Looking for a cold water and high efficiency detergents will help you out with this tip as well! To find a Crosley appliance near you, please visit our Distributor Locator here. We hope these few laundering tips will assist you in enjoying your Crosley machines even more! |
