Give Your Appliances a Spring Cleaning

Cleaning your appliances may be a chore, but it doesn't have to be an unpleasant one. After reading this post, grab your supplies, fill your sink with some soapy water and let's get cleaning!

Cleaning Your Glass or Gas Cooktop
Remove any knobs and grates from your cooktop and place them in the warm, soapy water.
While those soak, add two cups of water, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup dish soap to a spray bottle and shake to combine. Spray your cooktop, range hood and backsplash with solution. Let that stand 15-20 minutes and then spray again and wipe clean. Rinse any remaining residue and wipe dry with a clean towel.
Head back to the sink and scrub your knobs and grates, rinse with cool water and pop back into place once everything is dry.

Cleaning Your Dishwasher
Remove the racks from your dishwasher and spray around sides, paying special attention to the wheels and groves, with your baking soda solution. Rinse and wipe clean. Check your filter for any debris and rinse clean under warm water. Pour a cup of white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher along with 1/4 cup of baking soda, then run it using a hot cycle. Replace the racks, and you’re ready to go!

Cleaning your Refrigerator
Now is the time to discard any old, expired foods and condiments! Remove all remaining items, including your drawers and shelves. Spray the interior of your fridge with your solution and let sit for 10 minutes. In the meantime, clean and scrub your drawers and shelves and allow to dry completely. Return to your fridge and wipe it down; respray interior if needed. Wipe everything dry with a clean towel.
Replace the drawers and shelving and reorganize your food items and your fridge will be ready for you next time you need it.

Cleaning Your Microwave
Remove the glass plate from your microwave and clean with warm, soapy water. Place a microwave-safe glass of half-water and half-vinegar and run until the liquid begins to boil. Let the solution sit in the microwave for a few minutes for the steam to do its work! After a few minutes, remove the solution and wipe down all sides. If there is any stubborn gunk left, spray with the baking soda solution and wipe clean.
Replace your glass plate and reward yourself with a bag of popcorn!
